We have been confined for more than a month and it is no secret that there are some behaviors that we have varied a little regarding beauty care.
We stopped going to the gym and started doing boards in front of the tablet. We eat better with the aim of increasing our immune system and vitamin D levels. We also go through different stages when shopping and cooking and we are even putting on masks beyond our means.
As for other beauty routines, a digital platform called My Top Beauty has wanted to probe Spanish women to find out how much their habits have changed when compared to Spanish dressers during the health crisis.
A sample of 630 women from all over Spain (aged between 18 and 65), answered the company ODEC online in April, a company specialized in computer services for market research, statistics, media and marketing.
One of the main conclusions is that in times of confinement, one in three Spanish women only manages to attend video calls.
These are others:
- 61.5% have changed their beauty and personal care routines
- 45.5% take advantage of this extra time to take better care of themselves
- 75.7% have not given up on this year’s bikini operation
From the study “Routines of care and beauty of Spanish women during the alarm state of COVID-19”, carried out by ODEC for My Top Beauty, the following appears:
What has changed in the day to day of that 61.5% of Spanish women to affirm that they have new beauty and personal care routines? That some no longer live in the classic morning rush, others have begun to practice yoga, learned ancient techniques of Japanese facial massage and recreated with dozens of creams in front of the mirror.
Instead, others have succumbed to life in pajamas and opted to dress only from the waist up for video calls.
-Despite the running of the bulls, a significant 45.5% say they take better care of themselves than before, since they have more time to exercise, hydrate the skin after the shower or put masks on their faces or hair, among others.
-On the opposite extreme, 22.7% declare that, as far as aesthetic rituals are concerned, these days it is limited to little more than showering and changing pajamas.
-32% have incorporated new steps, brands and / or products.
-About 37% of the women who have taken part in this study affirm that their care routine (in relation to products and treatments at home) is the same as before the health crisis began.
-However, 32% acknowledge having taken advantage of the situation to add new steps to their routine and try new products and brands selling online.
-For their part, around 14% have chosen to experiment with homemade “do-it-yourself” tricks and recipes.
-44% of women have taken a “breather” and it is not fixed.
-It is striking that, compared to almost 30% who only fixes when they have a video call scheduled, whether for work or personal, 27% of those surveyed affirm that they comb their hair and make up every day almost the same as if they had a normal life.
-On the other hand, 44% of women have decided to take a break and take advantage of confinement to not get ready at all. In this group, there are conflicting feelings: while 55% miss looking pretty, 44.7% feel liberated.
-88% miss training, 86% go shopping, and 81%, get ready.
They miss the hairdresser
The temporary closure of non-essential services and establishments has contributed to greatly missing hairdressers and beauticians. Luckily, the hairdressers are already open.
In this regard, almost 88% of the respondents miss going to the gym or training outdoors, while about 86% long to go to the point of sale for shopping, and 81%, get ready and look better. Going to the hairdresser (78%), the beauty center (78%) and their aesthetic medicine clinic (53.5%) would be next in the ranking.
Operation bikini 2020?
Given the uncertainty of this summer, My Top Beauty tells us that 75.7% of Spanish women have decided to be ready. For this, it is carrying out its particular bikini 2020 operation: for almost 30% it is being a more intense preparation than usual, since it is taking advantage of the fact that it has more time to take more care of itself, while 22.5% is practically doing the same routine as years ago and 23.5% are taking it with a little more calm.
